The Chicago White Sox suffered a blow to their lineup with the news that star center fielder Luis Robert Jr. has sustained a Grade 2 hip flexor strain and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks. However, reports suggest that his recovery may take longer, with some sources suggesting an absence of three to four months.

Robert’s injury occurred during a game against the Kansas City Royals while he was trying to leg out a double and pulled up while attempting to turn at first base. This is not the first time he has suffered an injury to his right hip flexor; in 2021, he missed nearly three and a half months due to a Grade 3 strain.

Despite the setback, Robert had an impressive All-Star season in 2023, showcasing his talent both at the plate and in the field. However, even without him, the White Sox were already struggling with him in their lineup, holding the worst record in the American League at 1-8 and scoring the fewest runs in MLB with only 16.

With Robert now on the injured list, the team’s offense will face even more challenges. They are also without designated hitter Eloy Jiménez, who is dealing with a left adductor strain. The team is hopeful that Jiménez will be able to return to the lineup this week.

Pitcher Garrett Crochet expressed the team’s frustration with their performance so far this season, emphasizing the need to improve and play better baseball moving forward. The White Sox will need to find ways to overcome the absence of their key players and turn their season around if they hope to make it back into contention for a playoff spot.
