In a recent game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever, forward Angel Reese of the Sky was assessed a flagrant foul after colliding with Fever star Caitlin Clark. The incident occurred in the third quarter of the game when Clark was driving to the basket and Reese swung her arm, making contact with Clark’s head and causing her to fall to the floor.

This is not the first time a Chicago Sky player has been involved in a flagrant foul against the Indiana Fever this season. Earlier in the year, Chennedy Carter of the Sky was also assessed a flagrant one for a hard foul on Caitlin Clark. The incident highlights the physical nature of play in the WNBA and the importance of player safety on the court.

After a video review of the play, officials ruled that Reese’s foul was a flagrant one due to its unnecessary nature. This decision meant that Reese received two free throws and possession remained with Indiana. According to league guidelines, a flagrant one foul is called when an action is deemed “unnecessary,” while a more severe and “excessive” act earns a flagrant two foul designation.

The incident serves as a reminder that basketball can be an intense sport, but it also emphasizes that safety should always be prioritized on both sides of rivalries like these between Chicago and Indiana.
