The Chicago Cubs faced another setback this week with star outfielder Seiya Suzuki being placed on the injured list with a right oblique strain. Despite his impressive start to the season, hitting .305 with 3 home runs and 13 RBI in just 15 games, Suzuki will now have to miss at least the next ten days due to the injury.

In response, the Cubs have called up highly rated prospect Alexander Canario from Triple-A Iowa to fill Suzuki’s spot in the lineup. Canario, who has shown promise in his limited big-league experience, is performing well in Triple-A this season with a .269/.377/.481 slash line in just 13 games.

Canario’s ability to play all three outfield positions and his right-handed bat make him a valuable addition to the team as they look to fill Suzuki’s spot in the lineup. The Cubs also have veteran outfielder Mike Tauchman who could potentially form a platoon with Canario in right field.

With several players currently on the injured list, including ace Justin Steele and slugger Patrick Wisdom, the Cubs will need to rely on their depth to maintain their competitiveness. Suzuki’s absence will be felt in the lineup as he has been one of the team’s best run producers so far this season. It will be a challenge for the Cubs to replace his offensive production while he is out of the lineup.
