Fairbanks at 50+: The Art & Science of Aging Summit is returning for two days this week in order to assist Fairbanksans in navigating the aging process. The event is open to everyone and will be held at the Carlson Center on Thursday, May 9, and Friday, May 10. The summit aims to celebrate, inspire, and empower individuals who are 50 years old and older.

The two-day event kicks off with the annual Fairbanks North Star Borough Senior Recognition Day Luncheon, which includes a resource fair, entertainment, and luncheon. Reservations are required for the luncheon, with doors opening at 10 a.m. and the ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Following the luncheon, participants have the opportunity to join a leisurely stroll along the Chena River walking path, a scenic one-mile walk sponsored by Timber Creek Assisted Living Facility.

On Friday, the event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offers a free day of learning about well-being in aging. More than 40 vendors will provide information, classes, and demonstrations on topics such as arthritis management, dementia care, financial literacy
