The Denver Broncos made a bold move during the 2024 NFL Draft by trading up to draft former Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin in the fourth round. This selection is a significant reunion for Franklin, who previously played with his former teammate, quarterback Bo Nix at Oregon.

Franklin’s addition to the receiving group is a major need for the Broncos, offering versatility as a valuable secondary option to a top receiver or potent deep threat. With Courtland Sutton already on the roster since 2018 and having an impressive season in 2023 with 90 catches, 772 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 13.1 yards per catch, Franklin will provide an excellent complement to Sutton’s skills on the field.

During his time at Oregon catching passes from Nix, Franklin set records by becoming the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns with 25 and tying for the most 100-yard receiving games with 11. The Broncos also added veteran receiver Josh Reynolds in the offseason, who had a solid season with the Detroit Lions in 2023, recording 40 passes for 608 yards and five touchdowns.

In addition to Sutton, Reynolds, and Franklin, the Broncos also have healthy Tim Patrick and Brandon Johnson on their roster who contributed over 150 yards each last season. When Nix received the draft call from Broncos Coach Sean Payton, he was ecstatic: “You want to win a Super Bowl?” Now that Franklin has joined forces with Nix again, it’s looking like this dream may come true for both of them in Denver.

Overall, this move is an exciting new chapter for both Franklin and Nix as they look forward to continuing their success together in Denver.
