The Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference (NLC) was held in Chicago, Illinois from May 10 – 13, 2024. This year’s NLC attracted a record crowd of over 6,500 contestants, including both High School and Collegiate competitors.

At the NLC, the Bay College / LSSU Regional Center BPA student club had two representatives competing in their respective events. Griffin Johnson, BPA Club President, took first place in Ethics & Professionalism, second place in Prepared Speech, and third place in Contemporary Issues. Tregan Lippens, BPA Vice President, captured second place in Ethics & Professionalism and fourth place in Contemporary Issues.

The success of the BPA student club at the NLC is due to the hard work and dedication of its members. According to Griffin Johnson: “I’d like to thank all our sponsors that made this trip possible. Without your support, none of what we experienced would be possible.” He went on to say that this year’s NLC was one of the best experiences of his life. He enjoyed competing at the highest level, navigating rush hour traffic in Chicago and getting the experience of traveling outside of the Upper Peninsula. These experiences have furthered his educational experience and given him memories that will last a lifetime.
