The departure of Edwards comes after his wife revealed that he was admitted to the hospital with serious mental health issues last year following accusations of paying a minor for explicit photos. Edwards presented the news at 10pm on the BBC for over twenty years before being suspended in July due to the allegations against him. Despite the police finding no evidence of criminal activity, Edwards decided to step down from his position at the BBC.
