The FIFA Congress is set to vote on the bids for the 2027 Women’s World Cup, and a recent evaluation report has ranked Brazil’s bid above those of Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This marks a first for soccer governing body members as they will have an open vote to determine the tournament’s hosts.

Brazil received an average score of 4.0 out of 5 in the technical evaluation, while Germany received a score of 3.7. Both bids met the minimum hosting requirements, but it was Brazil that emerged as the top contender in this process. Last week, U.S.-Mexico withdrew their joint bid, with Mexico stating their focus on hosting future tournaments. South Africa also dropped out last year, citing their plans to host in 2031 instead.

Brazil has hosted men’s World Cups before in 1950 and 2014 but has never hosted the Women’s World Cup. Germany hosted it in 2011, and Australia and New Zealand hosted it together in 2023 for the first time ever at two countries simultaneously. It will be exciting to see which country gets chosen to host the next edition of this prestigious tournament as we continue to monitor developments closely.
