A nationwide outage has once again affected some AT&T customers on Tuesday. The company announced that a problem is preventing many AT&T customers from completing calls between carriers, which also means that customers from a rival service cannot place calls to AT&T customers. Despite this, some subscribers complained on social media that their service was completely disrupted. It is important to note that internet access was not impacted by this issue.

In response to the problem, a company spokesperson stated that the carriers were working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the issue. While AT&T did not share the number of impacted customers, website Down Detector showed a spike in reports of issues starting around 1 pm ET. The number of incidents reported started to decline by 6 pm ET. Cities like New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Pittsburgh, and Indianapolis were among those with the most reports of issues.

Due to an interoperability problem, thousands of Verizon customers also reported a service outage on Down Detector on Tuesday. Despite this issue, AT&T reassured that 911 calls are going through, although a few locations erroneously issued alerts on social media about disruptions to 911 calls. AT&T is investigating why these alerts were sent accidentally. This recent outage comes less than four months after a massive one that disrupted AT&T’s network for almost 12 hours.

In February, tens of thousands of AT&T customers were unable to make phone calls
