Boston Dynamics, a company renowned for its human robots, has unveiled a completely redesigned version of its Atlas robot. The new Atlas is more compact, streamlined, and powerful compared to its predecessors. It boasts improved joint movement capabilities that enable natural movements. Notably, the robot’s large head resembles an SLR camera lens or a reading lamp.

In an introductory video released by Boston Dynamics, the new Atlas stands up straight from a lying position with graceful movements. While some publications have described the robot’s movements as both human-like and inhuman-like, others have likened them to horror films or praised their dexterity in twisting joints.

Apart from Boston Dynamics, other companies such as Tesla are also working on humanoid robots. In 2022, Tesla presented a prototype robot named Optimus with plans for future development. The company leveraged artificial intelligence from its self-driving cars in the robot’s design.

Boston Dynamics was originally founded in the United States but is now owned by South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai. Despite this change in ownership, the company continues to push boundaries in the field of robotics with each new release.
