The Warrick County Board of Health held a meeting to address the suspension of Dr. Yeager, which was passed without providing a reason. During the meeting, it was revealed that Dr. Julie Wohrley had been appointed as the interim health officer and allowed to resume issuing birth and death certificates and administering vaccines. However, her temporary appointment was set to expire, leading to the meeting.

After a heated debate, a motion to appoint Dr. Julie Wohrley as the permanent health officer failed, but she will continue in her role as the interim health officer for the time being. This decision comes after concerns were raised about poor morale, lack of leadership, and inflammatory statements allegedly made by Dr. Yeager were brought up during the meeting.

Our reporter, Jacee Caldwell, was present at the meeting and will provide a detailed update on the decision made on 14 News at 10. It is unclear what specific issues led to Dr. Yeager’s suspension in the first place or when his medical license was revoked. However, it is clear that this decision has caused some tension within the county’s public health department and will likely have an impact on services moving forward. Copyright 2024 WFIE.
