On Monday, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced several new initiatives aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of residents. The first of these initiatives is the launch of a new Office of Mental Health mobile app, which will help connect people with important resources to support their mental health.

Bello also introduced a campaign aimed at reducing the stigma surrounding addiction, encouraging individuals to seek help without fear of judgment. He emphasized the importance of addressing not just physical health, but also mental health and addiction issues in the community.

In addition to these initiatives, Bello announced the distribution of over 550 naloxone boxes in public places and businesses across the county. This has resulted in the distribution of over 20,000 Naloxone kits since July 2022, helping to combat opioid overdoses.

The Moving Forward Family Shelter was also introduced as the first emergency housing facility owned by the county. Bello highlighted this as a key announcement and emphasized his administration’s commitment to providing increased public health resources to residents where they live.

This State of Public Health Address was the first of four addresses that Bello will deliver throughout June. The upcoming addresses will focus on public safety, economy, and infrastructure. A detailed outline of Monday’s address can be found on the county’s website.
