Malaysia is on a mission to produce Nobel Prize laureates by enhancing its science ecosystem, as stated by Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang. The Nobel Prize laureate program is a top priority for the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) as it aims to cultivate young Malaysian scientists with global-scale talent.
To achieve this goal, MOSTI is focusing on creating a vibrant science ecosystem. The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) has been organizing various programs such as lectures, scientific discussions, and sessions with former Nobel Prize winners to identify potential candidates for the prestigious award.
Chang highlighted the importance of initiatives outlined in the ‘Achieving Excellence in Science – The Nobel Path’ report, which is being implemented by local universities under the Higher Education Ministry. These initiatives aim to nurture Nobel-calibre thinking among Malaysian researchers.
MOSTI is dedicated to creating an innovative research environment that will position Malaysia as a leader in Science, Technology, and Innovation on a global scale. By fostering a culture of excellence and providing support to young scientists, Malaysia hopes to produce Nobel Prize laureates in the near future.
