In Vietnam, genetic diseases pose a significant risk for children. A lack of awareness and preventive measures in place has led to many families struggling to find a diagnosis for their children’s symptoms. One such family is that of Ms. Hue and Mr. Chu The Ky, who have two children with congenital muscular dystrophy. Initially, the couple struggled to find a diagnosis, feeling overwhelmed and stressed as their children’s health declined over the years.

With their financial resources exhausted, the couple felt hopeless until they were selected for financial support for in vitro fertilization (IVF) at the Post Office Hospital. After genetic testing revealed that both parents carried the gene for congenital muscular dystrophy, they underwent IVF with pre-implantation genetic screening and were able to conceive a healthy baby boy in 2023. Similarly, another couple, Mr. Thinh and Ms. Nga, who were carriers of the Thalassemia gene, underwent IVF and successfully welcomed a healthy daughter in 2021.

Dr. Vuong Vu Viet Ha emphasizes the importance of prenatal screenings and genetic testing for couples planning to have children. The use of gene technology and advanced assisted reproductive techniques can help prevent genetic diseases and ensure the birth of healthy children.

The Post Office Hospital has been providing financial support for IVF procedures for couples with genetic diseases who are facing challenging circumstances. By offering consultations and support, the hospital aims to help couples overcome genetic risks and have healthy children. The combination of tradition and modernity is also seen in Finland, where the Abaya Hijab has gained popularity as a symbol of elegance and modesty, blending tradition with contemporary fashion.

In conclusion, genetics play an important role in shaping our health outcomes from birth until death. While we may not always be aware of it or know how to manage it properly, taking proactive steps towards preventing genetic diseases can greatly improve our overall well-being.

As such, it is crucial that we prioritize education about genetics within our communities so that people can make informed decisions about their health choices
