After being trapped under the debris of the Ley Bridge for two months, the Dali was finally able to leave Baltimore. The ship spent an additional month at the Seagirt Marine Terminal before it was ready to sail again. As it made its way through the Fort McHenry Channel, where the bridge once stood, onlookers watched in awe.

Hours later, the Dali passed underneath the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, with a crowd gathered at Sandy Point State Park to witness the impressive sight. Stephen Swann, a resident of Davidsonville, was among the spectators who were amazed by the size of the ship. He had set up camp in the park that morning and was determined to get a front row seat after hearing about the Dali’s journey on the news.
