On April 3, Baker Hughes announced its partnership with Snam, an Italian energy infrastructure company, to provide three NovaLT 12 gas turbine driven compressor trains for a gas compressor station in Sulmona, Italy. This innovative project will support the transport of energy supplies from Azerbaijan, Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean region to northern Europe via a 425-km long hydrogen-ready pipeline.

The new gas compressor station in Sulmona will play a key role in decarbonizing Snam’s gas network infrastructure as part of the Adriatic Line project. Ganesh Ramaswamy, Executive Vice President of Industrial & Energy Technology at Baker Hughes, highlighted the importance of collaboration in developing technology solutions for decarbonizing energy ecosystems.

Ramaswamy emphasized the company’s commitment to driving innovation and supporting the transition to clean energy sources. The NovaLT12 gas turbine technology is a testament to Baker Hughes’ efforts to provide sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of the energy industry. The partnership with Snam signifies a milestone in advancing the decarbonization of gas networks and accelerating the adoption of hydrogen as a viable energy source.
