Aryna Sabalenka, ranked number 3 in the world, has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to a lingering shoulder injury sustained during the Berlin Open last month. In a social media post, she expressed her disappointment and assured her fans that she would come back stronger next year.
Sabalenka, 26, who had recently won her second consecutive Australian Open title, was considered a top contender at Wimbledon if she had been healthy. Earlier in the summer, she had reached the quarterfinals of the French Open before being defeated by 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva. Throughout the French Open, she had been managing a back injury that prevented her from competing at full strength.
With her sights now set on the U.S. Open starting in August, Sabalenka will take a break to allow her shoulder time to heal completely. Despite the setback at Wimbledon, she remains determined to return to top form and compete at full capacity in future tournaments.
