Marilyn MacDowell has been awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Altrusa Club of Portland. She has volunteered at Iris Park Apartments, an assisted living facility for people with vision impairments, for over 30 years. The award recognizes her dedication and commitment to serving her community. In honor of the award, the Altrusa Club also donated $500 to Iris Network.

Barbara Durr has been appointed as a senior vice president and government banking relationship manager at Machias Savings Bank in Portland. She has previously worked at TD Bank for nearly 20 years, most recently as vice president, government banking relationship manager III. Her experience in government banking will help her excel in her new role at Machias Savings Bank.

Elise Baldacci of North Yarmouth was named president of Maine Credit Union League, effective June 3. She is no stranger to MCUL having previously worked as director of governmental affairs and assistant vice president, vice president and senior vice president of policy before being appointed as its President.

Noble Barbecue in Portland is relocating to 476 Stevens Ave., where it will change its name to Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue. Meanwhile, Loom Clothing and Home will open above Sperry at 56 Main St., Freeport’s Loom stocks sustainable and ethical fashion. This opening marks the growth of ethical fashion in Maine’s retail scene
