In the past two weeks, there has been a significant increase in the number of hand, foot, and mouth disease cases reported in Hanoi, with three outbreaks occurring at preschools. The city is currently recording 60-70 cases of the disease each week, totaling 300 cases in the first three months of the year. This is an increase of 75 cases compared to the same period last year.

The rise in hand, foot, and mouth disease cases is not limited to Hanoi as the Ministry of Health has reported over 6,000 cases in the country in the first quarter. This is double the number of cases reported in the same period last year. Unpredictable weather conditions have created favorable conditions for infectious diseases such as measles, chickenpox, and hand, foot, and mouth disease to increase.
