During a keynote address at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky discussed the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential impact on people’s lives. While ChatGPT was introduced in 2022, Chesky stated that most apps have not undergone significant changes and have remained largely unchanged. He predicts that within the next two to three years, AI advancements will lead to noticeable transformations in these apps.

Many people have high expectations for the influence of AI on daily life, but as of now, these changes have not materialized for most individuals. Chesky emphasized that while AI has captured our imagination and sparked some fear, it has not yet had a substantial impact on the apps and products we use every day. However, he believes that this will change in the near future, with significant developments expected in the next few years.

Chesky pointed out that while some companies have introduced chatbots and customer service tools utilizing AI, more significant system-level integrations are still on the horizon. Apple Intelligence is an example of this potential for AI to enhance user experiences by offering features like proofreading emails and calculating travel times.

Anticipating a significant shift in the technology landscape, Chesky predicted that apps will look considerably different within the next two to three years. He foresees a step forward in the coming year followed by a more significant leap in 2026. Despite the current lack of innovation in apps, Chesky is confident that AI will eventually lead to drastic changes in how we interact with technology.

In conclusion, while there have been some early advancements in AI technology, Chesky believes that we are just scratching the surface of what it can do for us. With continued development and integration into everyday life, AI has the potential to revolutionize everything from travel planning to customer service interactions.
