Wendy E. Parmet’s talk will delve into the themes explored in the book Constitutional Contagion, COVID, the Courts, and Public Health. The discussion will examine the shift from deference to indifference during the pandemic and how this shift has spilled over into post-pandemic challenges. These challenges include issues related to the authority of the FDA and EPA, as well as childhood vaccine laws.

The talk will also explore the impact of this decline in deference on democracy and consider the implications for public health in this new judicial era. Attendees can expect to gain insight into how these changes may shape future legal decisions in the realm of public health.
