The Mount Vernon Health Center recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark a major milestone in bringing accessible healthcare to the community. Both Mount Vernon Mayor Matt Starr and County Health Commissioner Zach Green emphasized the importance of meeting the community where they are in terms of healthcare needs.

The new health center features nine medical treatment rooms and two behavioral health counseling offices, equipped with telehealth privacy capabilities and five additional exam rooms to enhance patient care. This facility is the sixth in the Knox Public Health family, demonstrating a commitment to improving health services in the area.

Thanks to a $150,000 grant from the Knox County Foundation, the health center was able to open its doors on January 26th. Since then, Community Health Center Director/CEO Lane Belangia has noticed an increase in patient numbers, which he sees as a positive sign of meeting the community’s healthcare needs.

This new health center represents a significant investment in the community’s health and well-being. With the support of organizations like the Knox County Foundation and Kokosing, the health center can continue to provide essential healthcare services to those who need it most.
