As a GSTL on duty, I had the thrilling opportunity to drill a new sample on Mars today. Our plan for the day was not just focused on the main drill activities but also included several targeted science blocks. These blocks were aimed at characterizing the drill location and identifying potential drill sites on unaltered Stimson bedrock.

During the second sol, our science block started with Mastcam multispectral characterization of the drill hole, followed by creating several Mastcam mosaics. The color information provided by Mastcam is essential in distinguishing between altered and unaltered bedrock. We also planned to assess a fracture that cuts across an impact crater using a small mosaic. Additionally, we scheduled ChemCam targets to assess the block we were drilling and potential future sites.

Our plan for the second sol included an additional target to assess unaltered Stimson bedrock. We are hopeful for a successful drilling campaign and look forward to discovering more about the Martian terrain.
