Vanadzor Council of Elders elections in 2021 were won by Mamikon Aslanyan’s political party, which should have allowed him to continue serving as the head of the community. However, soon after the elections, law enforcement officers initiated a criminal case against Aslanyan for expropriating lands in Vanadzor through fraudulent documents during his time in office.
