The Kentucky River Health Consortium held an event called “Picking up the Pieces” at the Perry County Public Library to make a positive impact in the Kentucky River Region. The event aimed to help individuals struggling with addiction and chronic diseases such as diabetes by providing advice and support for families and friends dealing with addiction.

Frances Feltner, Director of the Center of Excellence in Rural Health, emphasized the importance of learning from each other’s experiences and supporting one another during difficult times. Various topics were discussed, including Casey’s Law, a tool that family members can use to help loved ones struggling with addiction.

Andrew shared his experience of overcoming substance abuse with the help of his family and Casey’s Law. He credited his family and Casey’s Law for saving his life after years of struggling with addiction. Andrew highlighted the importance of never giving up on someone who is battling substance abuse.

The event aimed to raise awareness, provide support, and offer solutions for individuals and families affected by addiction in the Kentucky River Region. It underscored the importance of community support and collaboration in addressing the challenges of addiction and chronic diseases.
