Despite speculation that the incident may be related to gang activity, Girac’s family insists that it was an accident.

Girac was rushed to the Haut-Leveque hospital in Pessac after receiving a call about his condition around 5:30 AM. An investigation has been launched into the incident, but no details have been released by the Mont-de-Marsan Prosecutor’s Office yet. The shooting occurred at a nomadic camp in Biscarrosse, where Girac was staying at the time.
