Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin, both standout players on the Texas Tech women’s basketball team, have now earned academic honors as well. They were recently recognized for their outstanding performances on the court and have now been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for the first time in their careers.

Maupin and Shavers, who received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, were key players for the Lady Raiders this season. Maupin, who started every game and averaged 31.6 minutes per game, led Texas Tech in scoring with 27 double-figure games and 102 assists. She also scored 14.1 points per game and made 127 free throws with an 85.8 percent shooting percentage.

Maupin had a breakout season with four games of 20-plus points and recorded her first career double-double against Sam Houston. She led the team in scoring 12 times and assists 19 times throughout the season. In Big 12 play, Maupin averaged 13.3 points and 2.6 assists per game in all 18 contests.

Shavers also had an impressive season, leading the Lady Raiders in scoring with an average of 15.4 points per game. She had eight games of
