Jeff Bezos, the former CEO of Amazon and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez made a public appearance at a White House state dinner in 2019. The event was hosted by President Joe Biden to honor the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. The State Floor of the White House was transformed into a “vibrant spring garden” by Jill Biden for the occasion. Guests were treated to a three-course meal inspired by American and Japanese cuisine.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, who went public with their relationship in 2019, were among over 200 guests who attended the event alongside prominent figures such as Apple CEO Tim Cook, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, and BlackRock chief Larry Fink. Former President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and actor Robert DeNiro were also in attendance.

This was not the first time business and tech leaders attended state events at the White House. In 2021, another similar dinner was held in honor of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The attendees included Tim Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. These events serve as an opportunity for influential individuals from different sectors to come together and celebrate diplomatic relations and partnerships between countries.
