The WVU Health Affairs Institute’s Mountain State Assessment of Trends in Community Health survey team has been working since 2020 to understand the challenges faced by residents of West Virginia in terms of health and well-being. Through their efforts, they hope to provide valuable insights to the West Virginia Department of Human Services so that they can better address the critical health needs of individuals across the state.

The primary goal of the survey is to gather comprehensive and representative health data for each county in West Virginia. This information is then made available to local health departments, nonprofits, and other organizations that support the community. By sharing this data, the hope is to facilitate targeted efforts to improve the overall health and well-being of West Virginians.

Currently, the 2023 MATCH survey is underway and will continue to collect data until May 2024. It is important to note that all responses provided in the survey are confidential and will not be linked back to individual participants or their households. This ensures that respondents can feel comfortable sharing their experiences and perspectives honestly.

For further information about the survey and its findings, individuals are encouraged to visit the WVU Health Affairs Institute website or reach out to the survey team directly. By staying informed about the ongoing efforts to understand and address community health trends in West Virginia, individuals can play a role in supporting positive changes and improvements in their local area.
