The ongoing negotiations for the collective agreement of on-board staff at American Airlines (AUA) are currently in their 20th round, set to take place on Wednesday afternoon. The Vida union and the on-board works council are pushing for salary increases that align with Lufthansa, AUA’s German parent company, which could mean a potential 40% raise. However, management is offering up to 18% more for pilots and flight attendants and 28% more for co-pilots over two years.

The dispute has resulted in hundreds of canceled flights and a reported financial damage of 24 million euros due to the ongoing strikes and works meetings. Vida boss Roman Hebenstreit has criticized AUA management for including bonus components in their offers that may never be achieved. Despite both parties having different demands and offers, the negotiations continue in hopes of reaching a resolution before further disruptions occur to airline operations.

The outcome of these negotiations will have a significant impact on the future working conditions and salaries of the on-board staff at AUA.
