The Chargers are currently in their offseason program, focused on building their new offense under the leadership of offensive coordinator Greg Roman. During a press conference, run game coordinator Andy Bischoff discussed the team’s goal of creating a unique and effective offense. Roman, known for his success with Lamar Jackson in Baltimore, will now be working with Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.

According to Bischoff, Herbert is a player with rare intelligence and the team aims to develop an offense that maximizes his abilities and sets him up for success. During a team meeting, Roman emphasized the importance of creating something epic and unlike anything done before. He spoke about establishing a new identity for the Chargers’ offense and focusing on the present moment rather than past successes.

Bischoff and pass game coordinator Marcus Brady also spoke about the importance of pairing Herbert with a strong rushing attack. They believe this will create a space where offensive linemen will want to play. This emphasis on the offensive line may influence the team’s decision with the fifth overall draft pick, as they consider selecting a tackle to bolster the line.

Additionally, the Chargers will need to address their thin receiver group to ensure Herbert has the necessary weapons to succeed in the new offense. The team is determined to make their offense unique and effective while utilizing Herbert’s strengths as their guide towards success in 2021 season.
