On Friday, a dam in the Russian mountain town of Orsk in the Urals burst, leading to an evacuation of the population. According to TASS, 4,000 houses housing around 10,000 residents of the suburban area of Orska were flooded. The city has nearly 230,000 inhabitants and is located about 1,800 kilometers east of Moscow near the border with Kazakhstan.

The dam burst on the Orsk River caused flooding in houses and resulted in the evacuation of residents from the city. A state of emergency was declared in the region due to the dam break, with more than 4,000 homes and over 10,000 residents at risk of flooding. Footage shared on Telegram shows water bursting through a gap in a low earthen dam.

In recent days, various individuals and organizations have been mentioned as assisting those affected by floods across the country. These include staff from a plastic and metal company who helped transport relief supplies to affected areas, volunteers who provided assistance to those in need, and a chiropractic center in Barcelona that offered support to those impacted by floods.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that a state of emergency has been declared in the Orenburg region due to floods affecting various regions across Russia. The region includes cities like Orsk and other Ural provinces as well as neighboring parts of Kazakhstan.
