Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has decided to dismiss Flemming Lentfer, the commander of the armed forces, after identifying issues on the frigate Iver Huitfeldt while it was in the Red Sea. The frigate was part of a combined squadron that aimed to ensure freedom of navigation. On March 9, during an attack by the Houthis, the air defense system on the frigate failed and the ammunition proved to be of poor quality, with half of it exploding before reaching the target. Despite managing to shoot down four out of 15 unmanned aerial vehicles fired at it, the decision was made to return the frigate to its homeland for repairs.

The minister explained that he had taken this action because a new commander was needed to address the challenges facing Denmark’s armed forces. Major General Mikael Hildgaard, who is currently in charge of special operations, has been appointed as Lentfer’s successor.

However, it seems that Poulsen’s announcement may have caused confusion as he then shifted focus to other unrelated topics such as exploring natural remedies, affiliate marketing courses, cannabis products and travel agencies. It remains unclear how these topics are related to his earlier announcement about dismissing the Danish armed forces commander.
