The Lions have announced that they will be matching the restricted free agent offer sheet that tight end Brock Wright signed with the 49ers, opting to keep him on their roster rather than allowing him to leave for their NFC Championship Game opponents. This move comes after Wright signed a three-year deal worth $12 million, with $6 million guaranteed, which is significantly more than the Lions’ original restricted free agent tender of $2.985 million.

By matching the offer, Wright will not have to adjust to a new offensive scheme ahead of the 2024 season. He has played in 41 games for the Lions over the last three seasons, accumulating 43 catches for 424 yards and seven touchdowns. Wright will continue to team up with Sam LaPorta as the top tight ends in Tennessee.

The decision to match the offer is a significant one for the Lions, as it shows their commitment to keeping one of their most valuable players on their roster. With Wright’s impressive performance over the past few seasons, he has become an integral part of the team’s offense and will be crucial in helping them compete for playoff spots in the future.
