The 2024 Hungarian National Championships mark a return to competition for world record holder Kristof Milak. The 24-year-old will compete in six events during the Olympic-qualifying competition from April 9th to April 12th. He will compete in the 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle events, as well as the 50m, 100m, and 200m butterfly. Despite being out of the pool since last year’s Hungarian Championships, Milak already holds Olympic Qualification Times in the 100m (50.80) and 200m fly (1:52.58) from that competition. He resumed training in mid-January and aims to be in his best form for the Paris Olympic Games.

Among other athletes to watch at the Hungarian national championships is Zalan Sarkany, who holds the PAC-12 conference record in men’s long distance freestyle with a time of 14:23.01 from last year’s championships. Sarkany later won the NCAA Championships title in that event with a time of 14:36.57. Nikolett Padar, Gabor Zombori, and Boglarka Kapas are also set to compete at this year’s championships.
