From Struggle to Success: The Rise of Haitian Entrepreneurship in Salisbury, Maryland

The Haitian community in Salisbury, Maryland is experiencing significant growth and there is a hunger for information about starting and growing businesses among local entrepreneurs. To address this need, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce and the Haitian Business Association of the Eastern Shore Inc. recently organized a small business workshop.

The Haitian Business Association (HBA) was created to support the Haitian community in Salisbury, with over 25 Haitian businesses already established in the area. The goal of HBA is to educate, network, and employ members of the Haitian community by connecting them with resources like the Chamber of Commerce.

The event aimed to provide these entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to achieve their business goals and visions.

Maryland Capital Enterprises, a nonprofit organization, has allocated $150,000 in funding to provide loans ranging from $5,000-$10,000 to Haitian business owners on the shore. The organization aims to build trust within the Haitian community and make them aware of the resources available to help them succeed.
