Eclipse Extravaganza: A Day of Science, Learning and Solar Wonder at the Kentucky Science Center

On April 8th, from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is hosting a special event in honor of the upcoming solar eclipse. Located at 727 W. Main Street, the center is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and all attendees will have access to its 50,000 square feet of exhibits and activities for free with admission.

During the event, guests can participate in a variety of educational programs about the eclipse, viewing safety, gravity, cultural interpretations of eclipses and constellations, and even create their own pinhole cameras to view the partial eclipse. Live coverage of the event from NASA will also be available for viewing in the center’s four-story theater, along with documentary screenings of Journey to Space 3-D exploring NASA’s Space Shuttle program and other space-related topics.

Kentucky Science Center CEO Mike Norman is thrilled about hosting this event and engaging with guests from the region by sharing his knowledge about the science behind the eclipse. This event is made possible in part by a NASA Kentucky Space Grant, making it an exciting opportunity for everyone who loves science and nature to come together and learn more about our universe!
