Giants General Manager Joe Schoen recently stated that the future of tight end Darren Waller with the team in the 2024 season is uncertain. According to Schoen, Waller has not yet decided whether he will retire or continue playing. This news comes after Waller mentioned earlier in the month that he would be making a decision soon.

The Giants are giving Waller the necessary time to make up his mind, and they are preparing for various scenarios based on his decision. Waller was acquired by the Giants in a trade with the Raiders last year and had an impressive performance during the previous season, making 52 catches for 552 yards and scoring one touchdown. However, he missed five games due to a hamstring injury. Hamstring issues have been a recurring problem for Waller in recent years, which may influence his decision regarding his future on the field.

Currently under contract with the Giants through 2026, Waller is set to earn a non-guaranteed salary of $10.525 million for the upcoming 2024 season. With Waller’s uncertain status, the Giants are preparing for different scenarios and will respect his decision, whether it involves retirement or continuing to play in the NFL.
