The Philadelphia 76ers are eagerly waiting for the return of Joel Embiid to the court on Tuesday night. Reports from both ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania suggest that Embiid is very close to making his comeback. If not on Tuesday, it will likely be before the end of the regular season as he prepares for the playoffs with the 76ers.
Embiid has been sidelined since February 1 due to surgery for a torn left lateral meniscus. Prior to his injury, he was having an outstanding season, averaging 35.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, putting him in the MVP conversation before missing too many games to be considered for post-season awards.
The 76ers coach Nick Nurse has expressed his belief that Embiid will return before the regular season ends. Despite being 1.5 games behind the No. 7 seed Miami Heat and two games behind the No. 6 seed Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia still faces an uphill battle with only seven games left in the regular season as they compete in a Play-In Tournament to secure a playoff spot, with tough matchups against either Boston or Milwaukee in round one.
