The Arcadia Valley Career Technology Center recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house for community members and sending school districts. The center, which first opened in 1974, offers eight career and technical education programs to students from several area schools, led by director Steve Pursley. During the anniversary celebration, students from these organizations led tours of the center to showcase the various programs available.
From the Business Technology classroom to hands-on training in industries like agriculture, healthcare, and automotive technology, students have opportunities to gain practical knowledge and prepare for future careers. The center’s curriculum includes learning Microsoft Office programs, photo and video editing, web design, and basic business skills.
Pursley explains that students can participate in career-based organizations, such as FBLA and SkillsUSA, which provide real-world experiences and skills. These organizations help students develop their leadership abilities and teamwork skills while also giving them valuable experience in their chosen field.
