In a historic debut on the PGA Tour, 16-year-old English teenager Kris Kim became the youngest player to make the cut in nine years. He also broke the record for the youngest golfer to make the cut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, surpassing Jordan Spieth’s record set in 2010. Kim’s impressive performances in the first two rounds included a three-under-68 and a four-under-67, showcasing his talent and skill on the course.

Despite feeling nervous on the final hole as he shot a birdie putt to secure his spot in the tournament, Kim expressed his enjoyment of the experience. He credited his mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, a former professional golfer, for introducing him to the sport at an early age. Suh now serves as his swing coach and Kim attributes his love for golf to watching her compete on the LPGA Tour in the 1990s.

Kim has already achieved success in his amateur career, including winning championships like the Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys’ Individual Championship, and McGregor Trophy last year. Now that he has made a successful transition to the PGA Tour, he sits in a tie for 36th place just seven shots behind overnight leader Jake Knapp.

As Kim prepares for round three of the tournament, attention from golf fans is drawn to his accomplishments. Meanwhile, three-time major winner Spieth failed to make it past qualification due to injury. Kim’s journey on the PGA Tour is only beginning and he will continue to showcase his talent and potential as he competes against some of golf’s greatest players.
