At 2 a.m. tonight, a terrible thunderstorm hit the Zagreb area, causing many people to lose sleep. One Twitter user wrote: “What an apocalypse this is.” Another added that he didn’t expect the thunder to wake him up at 3 in the morning.

The storm was caused by an announced change in weather and cyclones that moved over the area, bringing with them thunder with strong shocks. Dunja Plačko Vršnak from DHMZ said in Good morning, Croatia, that the weather was appropriate for the time of year. The strength of the thunder was also evident on social media, as many thought it was an earthquake.

One EMSC tweet read: “Rumbling, slightly shaking.” Similar messages were left by other users of EMSC. The storm shook and a strong sound was heard in the northern part of Zagreb. Overall, it was a loud and frightening experience for those caught in its path.
