Yuka Saso made history by becoming the third player to win major championships with their first two LPGA Tour titles. The final leaderboard of the US Women’s Open had Saso at -4, followed by Hinako Shibuno at -1, and Amy Ewing and Andrea Lee at level par. Aree Yubol, Atthaya Thitikul, Ayaka Furue, and Wichanee Meechai were further down on the leaderboard.

Saso’s victory marked her second LPGA Tour title, both coming at the US Women’s Open. She won her first major championship as a teenager in 2021, becoming the first Filipino player to do so. In 2022, she changed her international allegiance to Japan and had to renounce one of her two citizenships before turning 22.

The youngest player to win two US Women’s Open titles, Saso came from three shots behind to secure victory by three strokes. She shot a two-under-par round of 68 to finish at four under at Lancaster Country Club in Pennsylvania. Her victory came after a thrilling final day that saw her make four birdies in five holes on the back nine.

Despite an early setback on Sunday with a double bogey, Saso regained her composure to surge ahead. Only two players finished under par, with Minjee Lee struggling to an eight-over 78 and Wichanee Meechai closing with a 77. Andrea Lee and Ally Ewing shared third place, with Ewing shooting a 66 to make a late surge in the final round.

Saso joined the ranks of Se Ri Pak and In Gee Chun as the third player to win major championships with their first two LPGA Tour titles. Her victory solidified her place in golf history and showcased her talent and resilience on the course.
