On April 9th, 25-year-old nurse Pham Thi Thu Dong from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital emerged victorious in the Miss Beauty of Young Physicians – Miss HYPA 2024 competition, beating out 29 other contestants. The final night of the contest was held for the first time and saw more than 60 participants from 20 medical facilities compete for the title.

During the behavioral competition, Thu Dong was asked about her role in promoting the importance of young doctors in Ho Chi Minh City’s leading position in specialized medical development. She emphasized the need for medical professionals to constantly improve their skills and communication to better serve patients.

Thu Dong also expressed pride in her hospital’s percutaneous pulmonary valve replacement intervention technique being recognized as one of the top 12 Vietnamese medical achievements. She highlighted the importance of young medical staff learning from previous generations and striving to provide the best possible healthcare to patients.

The final night featured competitions in identity costumes, hospital uniforms, ao dai performances, and presentations, with the top 5 finalists moving on to the behavioral round. Dr. Tran Thanh Ngan and Dr. Le Thi Phuong Thao were named first and second runner-up, respectively.

Various sub-awards were given out, including best identity costume, best Ao Dai contestant, and most inspirational face. The competition aimed to showcase the professionalism, dynamism, and dedication of young medical professionals while encouraging confidence, brilliance, and meaningful messages from contestants without imposing restrictions based on height, age or job position.

Overall, Miss HYPA 2024 provided a platform for women in the medical field to shine while providing an opportunity for them to develop their skills through community volunteer activities.
