Erik Bronkowski, a 26-year-old Macomb Township man, was arraigned in court on charges of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of bullets from Dunham’s Sports store and damaging an emergency exit while trying to escape. The crime occurred on Monday at the store located at Gratiot Avenue and 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township.

If convicted, Bronkowski could face up to five years in prison for possession of ammunition, as he is being charged as a habitual fourth offender. Prosecutor Peter Lucido emphasized the seriousness of offenses involving ammunition, particularly when the individual is legally prohibited from possessing it.

Bronkowski has a history of run-ins with the law, as court records show previous convictions for armed robbery in Shelby Township and possession of methamphetamine, resulting in jail time. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety by Magistrate Joseph Plawecki, and he is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause hearing before Judge William Hackel III on Thursday, June 20.
