The WPIAL is making a strong showing in the upcoming PIAA lacrosse and boys volleyball playoffs semifinals. Historically, the WPIAL has not had representation in the state championship match, but that is set to change this year. The Mars boys lacrosse team has reached the PIAA Class 2A boys lacrosse finals for three consecutive years, winning gold in 2022 and finishing as runner-up in 2021 and 2023.

This year, Mars will face off against South Fayette in the semifinals, guaranteeing a WPIAL team in the boys 2A finals once again. The matchup is a rematch of the 2024 WPIAL finals, where Mars emerged victorious. In the state volleyball playoffs, Shaler will be taking on Warwick, whom they defeated last year in three games.

Another exciting match-up in the boys volleyball playoffs features WPIAL champion Mars against District 10 winner Meadville. Both teams are undefeated and vying for a spot in the state championship match. It promises to be a thrilling battle between two strong teams with a lot on the line.
