The National Safety Council (NSC) has recently received a $3 million grant from the McElhattan Foundation to support their Work to Zero initiative. This grant will help the NSC continue educating employers about the advancements in workplace safety technology, as they aim to achieve their goal of zero workplace fatalities by 2050.

The Work to Zero program has already made significant strides in this area since receiving a similar grant in 2021. The program has launched the Safety Innovation Journey and provided educational materials and webinars on safety technologies like drones, fatigue monitoring wearables, proximity sensors, VR/AR, and geofencing technology.

Lorraine Martin, President and CEO of the NSC, expressed her gratitude for the additional grant from the McElhattan Foundation. She acknowledged that their support is essential for advancing the Work to Zero initiative and achieving their shared goal of zero workplace fatalities.

The McElhattan Foundation has been instrumental in supporting initiatives that improve workplace safety since its establishment in 1994 by K.E. McElhattan and Kent McElhattan. They have a longstanding commitment to this cause, with former NSC Board of Directors member Kent McElhattan being recognized for his contributions in 2021.

Robert Yaniz Jr., Content Editor of Occupational Health & Safety, praised the NSC’s efforts towards improving workplace safety through advanced technology solutions. He believes that with continued support from organizations like the McElhattan Foundation, they can make a real difference in preventing workplace accidents and ensuring a safer working environment for all employees.
