Gary O’Neil, the head coach of Wolves, has had informal discussions with the club regarding a potential new deal. While no agreement has been reached yet, the conversations have been casual and it is anticipated that finalizing the deal will be straightforward. Sporting director Matt Hobbs had previously mentioned in March that the club would be sitting down with O’Neil to discuss a new agreement after the season ends.

Both Wolves and O’Neil are currently focused on the transfer window and are comfortable with the current situation. This means that a new deal may not be announced imminently and could potentially extend into the start of the new campaign, which begins on 16 August against Arsenal. Despite being appointed shortly before the beginning of last season after the departure of Julen Lopetegui, O’Neil led Wolves to a 14th place finish in the Premier League. They were in contention for a spot in Europe and made it to the FA Cup quarter-finals in March, only to be defeated 3-2 at home by Coventry.

However, Wolves struggled in their final 11 games, winning only once and losing eight times, which saw them drop out of contention for European qualification.
