On Thursday, the Wisconsin football team missed out on the final three schools for class of 2025 defensive lineman Brad Fitzgibbon. The Chicago, Illinois native had chosen to go with a top three of Kansas, Iowa, and Michigan State instead.

The Badgers had offered Fitzgibbon back in January when Greg Scruggs was the defensive line coach, but now E.J. Whitlow leads the position after Scruggs left for a job at Michigan. It’s unclear why the Badgers missed the cut for Fitzgibbon, but he could end up playing for one of their Big Ten rivals.

Ranked as a three-star recruit by 247Sports, Fitzgibbon is the No. 853 player in the class of 2025 and the No. 86 defensive lineman. He is also the No. 23 recruit from Illinois. He has official visits scheduled to each of his finalists: May 31 at Michigan State, June 7 at Kansas, and June 21 at Iowa.

Despite missing out on Fitzgibbon, Wisconsin’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 16 in the nation with 13 commitments. The program started June off strong with commitments from three-star CB Rukeem Stroud and four-star OT Logan Powell. The group is expected to grow as official visit weekends continue.
