The Mall at Greece Ridge is now implementing new technology aimed at reducing shoplifting incidents. This cutting-edge technology includes license plate cameras that help identify vehicles connected to prior theft cases. When a known shoplifter tries to enter the property again, an alert is sent to both the mall security office and the police station. This proactive approach aims to discourage shoplifters and prevent theft on the premises.

Al D’Agostino, vice president and corporate security director at Wilmorite, shared that this technology has already been successful at Eastview Mall in Victor, where it resulted in a 45% increase in shoplifting arrests. The cameras not only detect known shoplifters but also provide valuable footage and images for law enforcement investigation and resolution of the issue.

Moreover, there is a Greece police officer assigned to The Mall at Greece Ridge and two Ontario County sheriff’s deputies assigned to Eastview Mall as part of a collaborative effort between mall security and law enforcement. This ensures a quick response to any incidents that may arise. By utilizing advanced technology and maintaining strong partnerships with local law enforcement agencies, Wilmorite remains committed to providing visitors with a safe and secure shopping experience at their malls.
